Temporary Exile

The announcement filtered down to me by following dhstatus on Twitter. I read the post on the DreamHost Status Blog and read that someone had upgraded WordPress to 2.7 successfully. After initiating the upgrade (using DreamHost’s one-click installs) and waiting a few tense minutes for the confirmation email, I logged in to my gorgeous new dashboard and admin panel. The interface really is amazing but the default color scheme is a little low-contrast for my taste so I made it blue instead.

I really like the new media manager which certainly streamlines the organization and insertion of photos, video, etc. into a post. The tabs at the top of the admin panel were replaced by a side-mounted toolbar which can be collapsed to stay out of the way. Also, *almost* everything can be dragged and dropped to be anywhere on a given screen for maximum efficiency.

I really like it as the developers have clearly listened to the masses of users giving them feedback. I’m very impressed.
